PM Modi calls Emergency: PM Modi in Germany: The Prime Minister said India will not be left behind in the fourth industrial revolution, it’s now leading the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again recalled the phase of Emergency in India during his interaction with the diaspora in Munich, Germany, and said it was a black spot on India’s vibrant democracy.
“Today is June 26 which is also known for the day when India’s democracy that’s is in the DNA of every Indian was trampled and suppressed 47 years ago. Emergency was a black spot on the vibrant history of India’s democracy.”
“We Indians are proud of our democracy. Today, we can proudly say that India is the mother of democracy… The diversity of culture, food, clothes, music, and traditions makes our democracy vibrant. India has shown that democracy can deliver and has delivered,” he said.

“In the last century, Germany and other countries took benefit from the industrial revolution. India was a slave back then and that’s why it couldn’t leverage benefits. But now India will not be left behind in the 4th industrial revolution, it’s now leading the world,” the PM said amid loud cheers.
“Today, every village in our country is open defecation free, has electricity and 99% of the villages also have clean cooking fuel. India is providing free rations to 80 crore poor people for the last two years.”

“In India now we have a unicorn every 10 days. There was a time when India was nowhere in the race of startups. Today, we are the third-largest startup ecosystem. Similarly, we used to import even the simplest phones, today, we are the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world,” he added.

PM chairs emergency high-level meeting to review preparedness for Cyclone Hudhud
Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today chaired an emergency high-level meeting to review preparedness for Cyclone Hudhud. The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the PM, the Additional Principal Secretary to the PM, the Home Secretary, the Defence Secretary, and other senior officials from the IMD and PMO.
The Prime Minister was briefed on evacuation and other ongoing precautionary and preparatory measures being undertaken for the cyclone. These include deployment of teams from the Armed Forces and NDRF, depletion of reservoirs to accommodate cyclonic rainwater, positioning of boats, swimmers, and relief camps, and standby systems to restore power and telecom services.
PM Modi calls for ‘high alert’ on Omicron
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a review meeting on Thursday, directed top officials coordinating India’s COVID-19 response, to maintain a “high level of vigil and alertness at all levels”.
He directed the Centre to closely coordinate with States to support their efforts of public health measures of containment and management. Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan, in a letter on Wednesday, directed States to impose stringent restrictions on people’s movement if test positivity and bed occupancy in their districts crossed certain thresholds.
Officials briefed the Prime Minister about the emerging global scenario driven by the new variant, Omicron with an overview of the surge in cases in countries having high vaccination coverage and the presence of the variant. India has so far reported 236 instances of the Omicron variant since December 4.
