Greeting Prime minister, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said Tamil Nadu was a state for inclusive growth, equality, and women’s empowerment and called it a “Dravidian model.” MK Stalin also listed a set of key demands on behalf of the state including exemption from NEET and releasing pending GST dues. Stalin also demanded Tamil be the official language in High Court and Union Govt offices.
Modi, when reached the Chennai airport at 5 pm, was greeted by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, AIADMK coordinator and former CM Edapaddi K Palaniswami, Union Minister L Murugan, DMK Minister KN Nehru, Durai Murugan, and State DGP Sylendra Babu at the airport. He also held a massive rally en route to the stadium. This is his first official visit to Chennai after the DMK government captured the power of the state.

Tamil should be the official language of Madras High Court and Union government offices in the state, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Chennai Jawaharlal Nehru stadium on Thursday.
Greeting PM Modi, who had come to lay the foundation stones of 11 projects worth Rs 31,500 crore in the city, Stalin also demanded the exemption of Tamil Nadu from the NEET, the release of pending GST dues and retrieving Katchatheevu island from Sri Lanka. He urged the Prime Minister to consider the demands as early as possible

The Chennai police on Tuesday arrested a 46-year-old construction worker who had been absconding for eight years after allegedly killing his pregnant wife and her seven-year-old son. The accused, Rajiv alias David, a native of Sullurpet in Andhra Pradesh, was staying at VOC Nagar in New Washermenpet, said the police.
According to the police, Rajiv developed an affair with the victim M Gunasundari and moved in with her in 2014. Once an argument broke out between Rajiv and Gunasundari and he stabbed the pregnant woman and her son and fled the spot, said the police. Rajiv attacked Gunasundari’s mother also when she tried to intervene, the police added
AIADMK coordinator and former Tamil Nadu chief minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami have alleged that Chennai has now become the “city of killings” leading to a scenario of uncertainty as regards security for the people. In a series of tweets Tuesday, Palaniswami attacked the DMK government and said that the law and order in the city had “deteriorated.” Chennai alone has witnessed 18 murders in the past 20 days, Palaniswami alleged referring to news reports.
