Delhi News Live: Updates: The Delhi Police on Wednesday rejected as “totally false” the allegations that its personnel forcibly entered the Congress headquarters here and beat up protesting party workers and leaders.

Delhi News Live Updates: A delegation of top Congress leaders was escorted by the Delhi Police to meet the Lieutenant Governor after the party launched a protest outside his residence on Thursday. The party was demanding action against “police highhandedness” displayed at its headquarters on Wednesday. Mayhem broke out on Thursday afternoon, with Congress leaders climbing over barricades and police deploying water cannons to disperse the protestors. This comes a day after the party alleged that Delhi Police officials forced their way into the headquarters and lathi-charged leaders, who were protesting the questioning of Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged money laundering case.

The Delhi Police on Wednesday rejected as “totally false” the allegations that its personnel forcibly entered the Congress headquarters here and beat up protesting party workers and leaders. The Delhi Police said despite its suggestion to hold the protest at Jantar Mantar, the Congress leaders, showing “utter disregard to Supreme Court guidelines”, tried to create public disturbances in the area.

Over a dozen defense force aspirants, Thursday laid down on tracks stopping a train at Nangloi Railway Station in outer Delhi in protest against the Centre’s Agnipath scheme. Meanwhile, hundreds of young aspirants took to the streets in Bilaspur and Sidhrawali areas of Gurugram and Rewari in protest against the Agnipath scheme. Traffic on the Gurugram-Jaipur highway was impacted. Protests turned violent in Haryana’s Palwal as hundreds of youths demanding a withdrawal of the scheme took to the streets and gheraoed the residence of the deputy commissioner. The protesters blocked roads and resorted to stone-pelting, as well as torched a few vehicles. A senior police officer said that several cops had suffered injuries, adding that the situation was now under control.

Covid-19 vaccination: The gap between a number of precaution doses and second doses widened in Delhi

Although Delhi has been administering more precaution doses than first or second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine since May second week – after all adults became eligible for the third dose and the Delhi government made it free – the gap between the number of precaution doses and second doses has been increasing over the last one week. This owes largely to a dip in the number of second doses being administered.

Delhi has administered 71,696 precaution doses and 33,987-second doses so far this week. In comparison, 87,644 precaution doses and 54,819-second doses were administered the previous week. And, 74,542 precaution doses and 60,572-second doses were administered the week before that, according to data from the government’s Cowin portal. ,

This, officials say, is because there is a saturation for the second dose in Delhi, except for young children between 12 and 14 years.
